Wikipedia meme

As seen at A Fraternity of Dreamers and Breaking the Fourth Wall, among others, I'm tagging myself.

The Rules:
1. Go to Wikipedia and type in your birthdate, no year.
2. List 3 important events, 2 births, 1 death and 1 Holiday or Observance.
3. (optional) Tag 5 more people.

1517 - Protestant Reformation: Martin Luther posts his 95 theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg.
1892 - Arthur Conan Doyle publishes The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
1984 - Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi is assassinated by two Sikh security guards (riots soon broke out in New Delhi and innocent Sikhs were killed).

1795 - John Keats, British poet (d. 1821)
1887 - Chiang Kai-shek, Nationalist Chinese leader, former Republic of China president (d. 1975)

1993 - River Phoenix, American actor (drug overdose) (b. 1970)

Halloween (of course!)

I'm not going to tag anyone specifically, but if you're in the mood consider yourself tagged.

  1. Looks like an interesting game.

But regarding the 1984 figure, the number of 2000 Sikhs killed is absurdly low. I was there. We had eight killed in one house alone, almost 9, but I survived.

Please drop by one of my blogs and say hi.

  2. As soon as I saw your birthday was on Halloween I said to myself 'Hmmm, the day River Phoenix died'. I remember it very clearly and I was very upset about it. Is it fun having a Halloween birthday, or is it a bummer? My sister has a Christmas birthday and she hates having to share the spotlight.

  3. Mai,
I'm so sorry to hear about all your family that was killed. Unfortunately my knowledge of India and its history is pretty limited. I just copied what it said at wikipedia but I'll remove the number. Thanks for stopping by though. :)

Well when I was a kid I got lots of witch or ghost jokes and teasing. But it's not too bad for a birthday . It's far enough from Christmas that I still got presents. When I was younger I just couldn't plan a party on the actual day if some big Halloween bash was going on. But now I'm not really a big 'must celebrate my birthday' type person so it doesn't matter much.

  4. Ha ha - I have discovered I share a birthday with Karl Lagerfeld, Ryan Phillipe and Joe Perry from Aerosmith. I was hoping for Yeats, but you can't have everything.

  5. The Traveller,
Nope, you can't have everything. LOL! Apparently I also share a birthday with the Cheeky Girls!

  6. Thank you, Tanabata. Every little bit of accuracy helps. And Wikipedia's accuracy depends, not on facts, but on who writes the article.
