Just Wild About Harry

1. Okay, love him or loathe him, you’d have to live under a rock not to know that J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, comes out on Saturday… Are you going to read it?
Absolutely! My Harry Potter re-read-a-thon has been leading up to this event!

2. If so, right away? Or just, you know, eventually, when you get around to it? Are you attending any of the midnight parties?
Provided that Amazon Japan does not let me down, I plan to start reading it on Saturday.

3. If you’re not going to read it, why not?
N/A (insert puzzled look!)

4. And, for the record… what do you think? Will Harry survive the series? What are you most looking forward to?

I'm not entirely confident but my feeling is that Harry will survive. I just can't see having our hero, fighting the ultimate battle of good vs. evil, perish. If he dies, Voldemort wins. I know it's possible that he'll die killing Voldemort so that good would still win in the end, but I can't seem to envision that ending. But I guess we won't know what Rowling is capable of doing for a couple more days.
I'm most looking forward to finally finding out what happens and some of the answers to questions left dangling throughout the series.

  1. I agree. I can't see Harry dying. It would be anti-climactic at this point, I think.

  2. I'm with you. I think Harry will live. And I'm not fanatical about Harry Potter, but I am hoping my copy arrives asap!

  3. While I have absolutely no doubt that the good side will win, I am not so sure about Harry's fate. I really hope you're right, though!

  4. I am going to the midnight party as usual and then coming straight home then staying up all night to read this. Of course I always do that.

On a side note, do you like historical mysteries? If so, have you read the Sano Ichiro series set in Japan? Just wondering.

  5. I do hope your book arrives on time! And happy reading when it does. :-) I'll be reading it right away too.

  6. Kookie,
Exactly. But I guess I'll find out in a couple of days.

    Gentle Reader,
I hope we're right! Rereading them all as I have done has really made me anxious for the last one! Plus I want to read it asap to avoid spoilers on the net.

I'll be so sad, and a little disappointed if he dies. We'll soon know though.

There aren't any midnight parties here that I know of, just some large bookstores opening earlier at 8am tomorrow. Hope mine arrives in the morning.
Is that the series by Laura Joh Rowland? I've heard of it but haven't read any of them. You? Are they good?

    Literary Feline,
Me too! Happy reading to you too! :)

  7. I love Harry Potter. I wish I brought my Half-Blood Prince book with me, would have loved a reacquaintance before the last book is out!

Amazon jp almost never fails - you're sure to get your copy on time!!

  8. Grace,
I'd forgotten so much that happened in Book 6, I'm really glad I read it again.
Yes, Amazon Japan is usually quite good. It arrived just before noon on Saturday.
