Mailbox Monday

Here are the books that have arrived in my house in the last 2 weeks:
Forever Lily by Beth Nonte Russell - I'd requested this one from Bostick but had given up on it (I don't get most of the ones I request, only the odd one here and there) but then it showed up last week. Yay! And the cover is adorable!
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie - Won from Natasha at Maw Books for participating in her Reading & Blogging for Darfur Project. Thank you Natasha!
Little Stories by Jeff Roberts - I've been really enjoying short stories lately so I'm looking forward to dipping into these. Many thanks to the author for sending it my way.
The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran - Won in a giveaway at At Home With Books. Thank you so much Michelle! You may remember that I won chocolates from Michelle a couple of months ago, so I'm feeling a little guilty/greedy but mostly very lucky! And since I bought Nefertiti last month, now I'm all set.

What books have you got lately?

  1. I will be interested to hear what you think of Forever Lily. I reviewed it on my blog, but you may want to read the review AFTER you read the book. I had a few very distinct opinions on this one!

  2. That's a nice little pile! I loved The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. Hilarious book.

  3. BTW, I haven't found Bostick reliable, either, and I'm in the U.S.

  4. Stephanie - But your comment made me so curious that I went back to read it! I'm guessing I might have some of the same thoughts but don't worry I'm still interested to read it for myself. :)

Nancy - I flipped through it and it looks really fun with the drawings and everything. BTW, that's good to know about Bostick. I assumed that it was because I was in Japan, that many authors or PR firms just didn't want to ship overseas. So I guess it's all just the luck of the draw then?

  5. Lots of books I'm curious about! Especially the Sherman Alexie. I look forward to your thoughts on it.

  6. I loved The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian when I read it earlier this year; you're in for a treat. And The Heretic Queen has been on my mental TBR list for awhile now, so I'll look forward to your review (although with so many books to choose from, I think I might wind up waiting awhile!). Happy reading :-)

  7. Thank you for stopping by the mailbox this week. I too have 'Forever Lily'. Interesting Bostwick comments. I've never had any problems and actually got a book or two I didn't request. Hey, they probably belong to you guys. LOL

  9. I have Absolutely True Diary...on my TBR pile and I've really been wanting to read it. I got it last Christmas from Robin as part of my secret santa gift :) And I'm just seeing your Best of 2008 thing on your sidebar and I love your cover to Kafka on the Shore! Wish we had that one here :/

  10. I'm planning to read Sherman Alexie's book soon, too. Can't wait to hear what you think!

  11. We have gotten 2 of the same books this week. (Forever Lily and Little Stories)

I haven't gotten all of the books I've requested from Bostick either. I'm thinking maybe they only send a set number of books out and it's First Come First Served and they just don't bother sending e-mails to those of us that didn't make the cut. Just a guess.

  12. Oh I'm a bit jealous, you have The Heretic Queen! :)

I really enjoyed Nefertiti so I need to read this one and see what happens next. Enjoy your new books.

  13. Nymeth - It looks really good. I'm going to have to try to fit it in sometime soon-ish.

Ashley - Now you're making me even more eager to read The Absolutely True Diary...! I have so many books that I'd like to be reading right now! Argh! ;)

Marcia - LOL. Who knows? That's nice that you've had good luck with them though.

Michelle - Thanks again! I'm very much looking forward to reading both of them. :)

Chris - It's the UK paperback of Kafka on the Shore. I really like it too. The back cover has a tail! :P

Gentle Reader - You'll probably get to it before I do, so I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it.

Kylee - I usually don't get emails either, just the ones announcing the books. So I never know if I'll get a book until it shows up in my mailbox. I imagine there are a set number but it would be nice to know ahead of time. Oh well, suppose I shouldn't complain.

Iliana - Thanks! I really lucked out on winning The Heretic Queen. I'm looking forward to reading Nefertiti, early in the new year hopefully.
