Mailbox Monday

Only one lonely new book this week! I stopped by the only bookstore I know of in Tokyo that carries Bookmarks magazine last week to pick up the latest issue, and of course I had to have a little browse while I was there. While they have a pretty good magazine selection, the English books are a bit expensive so I don't often buy any there, but this time I found a reasonably priced paperback copy of The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga, winner of this year's Booker Prize. I don't always love the Booker Prize winners but award winners still always seem to catch my eye and so it ended up coming home with me.
Has anyone read it yet?

  1. I can't wait to see what you think of that one!

  2. Only one book? You must not do too many review books yet LOL. My mailbox is here

  3. It's the first I've heard of it, but then I haven't read very many Booker Prize award winners.

  4. bermudaonion - I have no idea when I'll get to it, but I am curious about it!

Callista - Well, living in Japan means I don't have as many opportunities for review books as all of you in the US. Maybe that's a good thing though otherwise I'd probably be drowning in them! ;)

Alyce - I'd seen the news about this year's winner but hadn't looked it up or anything. The special end display at the bookstore reminded me of it.

Wendi B. - I thought so! I had a choice between the US paperback and the UK paperback for the same price and I went with this one, the UK version. :)

  5. I haven't read this one. Can't wait to hear what you think of it. Happy reading!

    Diary of an Eccentric

  6. Anna - Thanks! It's that old saying.. so many books, so little time! :)

  7. Thank you for stopping by the 'mailbox' this week. I'd be a very sad person (LOL) if buying books was very expensive. The things I would sacrifice for the love of a book

  8. Marcia - LOL. It has certainly reined in my spending. I still buy, probably too much, but it's so much less than when we lived in an English speaking country! :P

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I love hearing from you and I read every single one!
