Friday Fill-ins, and a thank you to all my fans!

1. Enough with the negative news. H watches the news every night but I just watch the main stories on BBC and otherwise I avoid it - it's just so negative all the time.
2. Trying to balance blogging with reading and everything else I want or need to do causes me to be conflicted.
3. I've been craving chocolate (nothing new there!).
4. Jiro makes me laugh. Every single day. He's such a goofy cat!
5. I wish I could go to Paris next week. As long as I'm dreaming I might as well dream big!
6. All the books in TBR purgatory has have been on my mind lately. Brought on my the fact that I have no more shelf space and will probably have to go through them soon and see which ones I'm willing to part with. :(
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a mug of hot chocolate, tomorrow my plans include hanging out at home (H has to work!), relaxing and reading (and probably blogging, see #2 above) and Sunday, I want to make sure Bailey's ok (see below)!

I have a question for you cat owners. Bailey, our white cat, has lost his voice! For a couple of days now when he opens his mouth up to meow, no sound comes out. He seems completely fine otherwise though. He's eating and running around with Jiro as usual but he's suddenly become mute. He normally has a very loud, demanding meow so I admit I'm enjoying the peace and quiet but we're a bit concerned and will take him to the vet this weekend. So I was just wondering, have you ever had a cat that lost its meow?

Recently I've been the recipient of some blog awards so I want to say a big thank you to Kailana of The Written World and Anna of Diary of an Eccentric for giving me the Butterfly Award. Here's what Kailana had to say about me - "A fellow Canadian (although she has left the country), I really enjoy both her reviews and her pictures!"

And a big thank you also to Maria of A Passion for Books, Lena of Save Ophelia and Harry of Temple Library Reviews for giving me the Premio Dardos Award.
This is what Lena had to say - "She writes about her travels, takes a bunch of gorgeous photos and reads a whole ton of books! I love reading her reviews and even her non-reviews."
(I haven't been taking or posting many photos lately but I guess I better!)

Instead of singling anyone out to pass these on to, I want to thank everyone who reads my blog and comments. I love having you stop by to spend some time in my little corner of blogland, and I hope you will continue to do so! Thank you! :)

  1. The balancing act can be difficult. Chocolate does sound good about now. Aren't cats wonderful? Mine never fail to make me smile.

I am thinking of getting another bookshelf. Hubby doesn't think we can fit it in the living room, but I think I could make it work. :-)

I have never heard of laryngitis for cats. Let me know what the vet says.

Congratulations on the awards! You definitely have earned them.

I hope you have a great weekend, Nat.

  2. Oh I understand #1 I try to avoid it also, I feel bad about what is happening but me watching it over and over isn't helping the situation in the Middle East.

    # 2 well this is an ongoing thing, but right now it is Marzipan and I have to loose some weight from the holidays :(

#5 I'll dream with you, wonder if I will ever go again...

#6 Same here, it became more obvious I had a problem with TBR books when I had to pack them to move, I did give some away to my neighbour so.

By the way, what is the temparature in Japan, or more specifically where you live?

  3. I forgot:
You deserve the BUTTERFLY AWARD, you truly do have the coolest blog I ever known, you thought me a lot about blogging.

  4. Your welcome! Hope you are having a good weekend!

  5. I hope you have a good weekend. I'd suggest going to the vet just in case.

  6. i discovered your blog recently and i m enjoying here quite a lot...:)

  7. lol, "TBR purgatory". I'm running out of shelf space again too :(

    Congratulations on your awards!

  8. Congrats on your awards - so well deserved! :)

And, can I just say ditto to your #1,2 & 3! Hope you have had your mug of hot chocolate this weekend!

  9. I wish I could meet you in Paris next week :-) Love the way you ended this post!

  10. Wendy - I really have no idea where we'd put another bookshelf. I guess we just need a bigger apartment! ;)
I just wrote a short post about Bailey, but the vet thinks it's probably a throat infection and gave us some antibiotics. It seems to have helped a little already as he can now croak a bit!

Sylvie - Watching the news for any length of time usually just makes me frustrated or feel blue, so I only watch in small doses.
Wouldn't it be nice to be in Paris? Although I'd actually settle for pretty much anywhere in Europe.

Today was a bit warmer, almost spring-like, but the temperature has pretty much been averaging about 10C (50F) during the day and 5C (about 40F) at night although it's supposed to drop to 1C (33F) this weekend.
    Oh and thank you! :)

Kailana - It was a pretty uneventful weekend, but those are good too sometimes. :)

Monica - Thanks. We did go to the vet so now we have a course of antibiotics to give him. Hopefully that'll help.

iselldreams - I'm glad you "found" me! And I hope you'll visit again. :)

Nymeth - It would be nice if the books didn't take up quite so much space, but I can't imagine not having lots of them around!

Iliana - I did have my mug of hot chocolate on the weekend, and another one tonight! :P

Janet - That would be so fun! Maybe someday... or how about Kyoto? :)

  11. Kyoto would be fine, too :-)

  12. Janet - OK. Let me know when you're coming! :)
