Mailbox Monday

Two books that I'd ordered from The Book Depository arrived in the mail for me last week. (BTW, have you seen their new "Watch People Shop" feature on the main page? It's kind of amusing.)

The Pools by Bethan Roberts
I originally added this one to my wishlist after reading Shana of Literarily's review of it and author interview last year. Plus the edition I got does have a very pretty sunset on the cover! I am a sucker for a pretty cover.

What Was Lost by Catherine O'Flynn
This one was mentioned during one of the book review podcasts I listen to, and it won the Costa First Novel Award in 2007 so I justified the purchase by thinking that I can always read it for the Book Awards Challenge.

I have a couple of review books that I'm expecting but otherwise I'm going to try to be good and not buy anything else this month. I can hold out for two weeks, can't I? Why are you laughing? ;)

  1. :D I am also a sucker for a pretty cover. These seem like good books, hope you enjoy them. I am trying to find which book I like to read, did not realize the books I ordered where close to 600 pages, of them.

    happy reading, Nat!

  11. Ohh get straight on 'What was Lost' - great story and written by a writer who grew up near me. The story's shopping centre is actually based on our local centre.

  13. Sylvie - Thanks! I'm not exactly sure when I'll get to them, but I am looking forward to both of them. :)

Anna - It does sound good, doesn't it?

Nymeth - LOL. Thanks for not laughing! ;)

Kim L - I've been good so far but we'll see if I can hold out to the end of the month! :P

Kailana - Well, the pound is really weak right now so it's a good time to buy from them. ;)

Wendi B. - It is really hard NOT to get books! LOL.

Iliana - LOL. Probably! Does it count if I preorder a book this month that doesn't come out until March?? ;P

Avis - She made it sound so good, I couldn't resist!
And about the button, thanks! I took the picture of that old, rusty mailbox last year and thought it would make a cute button. So yes, I made it and sure, I don't mind if other people use it. Feel free to grab it if you like. :)

Callista - It is pretty amusing to see what people are buying.

Jodie - Arg. You're making me want to start it right away but I have some others I really need to read first.
That's fun that it was set near where you live. I love reading books where I know the locations.

Marcia - Thanks for hosting every week!
