It's hard to believe that two years have already passed since the massive earthquake and utterly devastating tsunami occurred in Japan. The earthquake struck the Tohoku region of Japan on March 11th at 2:46 PM (which translates to 10:46 PM Sunday evening here in California). We left Tokyo over a year ago for San Diego, but Japan was my home for more than a decade, and our thoughts are still often back there, especially now as the second anniversary approaches. The terrible loss experienced by so many families and communities in the areas worst hit by the tsunami is still keenly felt, and the reconstruction work will take many, many years to come. We can only hope that, two years on, they are a little step closer to finding some return to normal life, and some peace.

  1. my gosh, I vividly remember being glued to my computer when this happened. It doesn't seem like 2 years ago.

  2. Yes remember this & all the responses garnered, & my wishes & thoughts still return & wish them well.

  3. It really doesn't seem like it was two years ago. I'm reading a book called A Tale for the Time Being right now that talks about the tsunami and its effects on Japan.

  4. I can't believe it has been that long.

  5. I’m dropping by to say hello but it seems you have been as active in blogland as me lol. I’m trying to catch up step by step now that autumn is around the corner. Wish you a great Indian summer!
